How do you get a shredded waistline?

That is a question we get asked quite frequently from our clients here at 24hr Flex Fitness. Love handles are a common stubborn area where body fat is stored for both men and women.

So, let us at Flex Fitness help you get rid of the unwanted fat!

Now, we are sure you have heard by now that,

“abs are made in the kitchen”

and unfortunately for us junk food eating lovers, that is the truth. Accordingly, you need to ask yourself… Are you indulging in junk food far too often? If this is the case, you will not be able to lower your body fat levels. Therefore, you will not be able to see the muscle definition you are wanting to see overall in your mid section.

Lat Developement

To start, as you are getting yourself more committed to your healthier/nutritious diet, you can start working immediately on your lat development in the gym. You might be thinking, lat development?! Yes, your lats! Working out your lats in the gym will give your body the illusion of a greater difference between the width of your back and the width of your hips. Thus, making your waistline look smaller!

Furthermore, the key here is to know how to fully contract your lats. This is a common mistake we see here at Flex Fitness, with not only clients but our gym members. You will usually see gym members or clients stop halfway when contracting their lats with the weight. However, if you gave the full extension and start the exercise with your elbow behind your body, you will target that area closet to your love handles.

Again, making your waistline look smaller.

Abdominal Work

Secondly, as you continue bringing down your body fat percentage with your diet, you will want to regularly work on your abs in the gym. Ab exercises such as, bicycle crunches, dumbbell side bends and hanging leg raises! However, even when you are working on your abs there is one part of your abdominal section you should pay close attention to. The secret as you continue working on your diet, lats and abs is you want to also

work on your obliques!

Lastly, working on your internal and external obliques will give your body that “v” tapered look in your waist. Getting that “v shape” will give off the impression of having a lean tapered torso. Oblique exercises such as, oblique crunches and waist slimmer squats are great exercises to help you in the gym to achieve a smaller waist.

In conclusion, with the right diet and training program you will see the maximum results. Now, if you need help with losing those love handles do not hesitate to contact us! Getting in contact with our Flex team is the first step to start off your fitness journey!
